Hello, there:

I am not a real chemist, and I don't know much about synthesis. However, since it is my job, I do want to learn and come up with some acrylic oligomers or polymers. The oligomers and polymers are elstomers, not polastics, which means high G' and low G".

The current synthesis method I am using is proxide polymerization.

Can any one tell me what kinds of acrylates I should use, and any comments on polymerization process?

Is this question too big to ask?

i guess what you are synthesizing is ACM,you can use butyl acrylate,ethyl acrylate,2-ethylhexyl acrylate or methyl acrylate,etc. It's up to what performance you want to get。I just know UCAR is dow's product and it is all-acrylic binder,you can have a IR test [该帖子已被dashing在2006-8-23 10:10:03编辑过]

Dear Dashing:

You are right that we are using different acrylate to do solution polymerization. I know what I want, but I don't know how to get there. I like the elasticity of UCAR163S's backbone, and am trying to understand what kinds of acrylate monomers they use. However, I am interested in repeating what they do, and I am interesting some thing better.

I am in the process of getting an IR. It will take for a while though.
