This highly unique material was accidentally discovered by Dupont chemist, Roy Plunkett working with Freon gasses in 1938.
The residual powder that remained in the canister came to be known as Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE). Later to be registered and patented by Dupont.

Years later PTFE material would be used extensively in the industrialized world in many applications for its special characteristics.

Today PTFE resin is manufactured and trademarked worldwide by other chemical companies.
