Job Title: North China Sales Manager
Position: Manager (medium/high level employee)
Department: Business Development, Marketing & Sales
Division: Asset Management (AM; also referred to as Industry)
Location: Beijing

Place in the organization & Relationships:
Organization position: AM Business Development, Marketing & Sales
Direct manager and reporting: Regional Business Development manager; local AM local manager
Senior local manager: AM Local Mgr.
Supported by: AM admin staff
External contacts: clients (general managers, QA-managers, inspection managers,
sales people, designers, );
Government institutions and organizations;
Sub-contractors;
Internal contacts: AM local management
Regional AM management
Other divisional management;
Other sales people;
Admin and Finance staff;
Main role
• Support business development of Asset Management.
Working close together with AM management to grow the business, by expanding
Asset Verification by winning special attractive projects.
• Following-up on large projects and getting us in the door of these projects (both
foreign and Chinese stake holders).
• Establishing high-level contacts with important market players in owners, contractors and CHINA central authorities.
• Supporting AM management with Business Development and Sales activities, such as strategic market studies, market analysis, strategic opportunity identification,
CHINA government's regulations interpretation and analysis.

Duties and job content
• Managing the China sales team, implementing new sales processes and looking for ways to improve the sales efficiency.
• Developing correct and mutually beneficial cooperation between sales and operations.
• Chasing and winning large and/or profitable and/or prestigious projects for AM.
• Developing relationships with key foreign and CHINA players in the targeted markets;
o Owners
o Contractors
o Manufacturers
o Authorities
o Others


• Using existing and new relationships to introduce us, increasing our involvement in high Capex projects in CHINA;
• Identifying and recruiting suitable consultants to introduce us at the right level in key organizations, where needed.
• Assisting AM senior management with BD issues:
This involves:
o To discuss and brainstorm about new strategic directions;
o To study macro economic developments and changes in Chinese
Government regulations, and to distillate opportunities from them;
o To support the AM core mgt. team with market intelligence and analysis and to be an active member of this team;
o To help write strategic growth plans and product development and sales
actions plans;
o To help recruiting suitable staff that can contribute to the ambitious growth plans of AM in China.
• Communicating with our affiliates around to world to stay aware of new product and regulatory developments.

Authorisations

• Contacting stake holders outside us independently to discuss opportunities for
business.
• Building-up relationships and maintaining relations with stake holders and consultants and while doing so inviting relations to entertainment activities as seen fit without prior approval, within the limits of what is reasonable and common practice in CHINA
• Deciding about prices without prior approval of other managers as per the our
Authorized Signatories list.
• Deciding about prices for projects after consultation of senior management as per the our Authorized Signatories list.
• Deciding about discounts on earlier issued and approved quotes per
Authorized Signatories list.
• Within the framework and strategic direction set by AM management, investigating and analyzing independently market opportunities for AM in CHINA, suggesting options for projects and product development.
• Investing in market information and relationships after verbal approval of senior
management.
• Booking flights and making other travel arrangements within CHINA after prior
approval.
• Directing and instructing Sales and Admin staff as needed, within the scope of
responsibility.

Responsibilities
• Assuring a constant high level of Sales and other PR related activities.
• Building the sales team into a coherent team.
• Improving the sales results of the sales team.
• Assuring proper and good relationships between sales and operations.
• Growing AM income at targeted profit margin levels.
• Establishing contacts with key stake holders to develop business for AM in CHINA.
• Building and growing AM business in CHINA, in close cooperation with AM manager.
• Assuring adequate and efficient planning of own sales activities.
• Providing maximum sales service to clients while regarding operational capabilities and availability.
• Keeping AM division up-to-date with the latest local developments in regulations and investments.
• Constantly informing BD mgt. of sales results and existing and new contacts, to
assure AM mgt. and other branches are aware of new contacts and developments.

Targets and result measurement
Effectiveness and achievements will be measured on several qualitative and quantitative
targets. Qualitative targets include:
• Performance of sales team.
• General group feelings in the sales team (team spirit, loyalty, motivation).
• Cooperation with fellow-AM mgt. and operations colleagues and other division staff.
• Level of newly established contacts and the results thereof.
• Content of strategic market information provided to Sales mgt.
• Level of strategic analysis results.

Quantitative targets include:
• Revenue of realized sales
o Individual
o Sales team
• Profit margin of realized sales
• Number of projects and assignments secured for AM
• Growth of the AM business.
• AM divisional revenue and Local Contribution results
• Number of new stake holder and authorities contacts established for AM
• Number of new client contacts established for AM
End-of-year bonus will be based on:

Personal requirements
• Management skills and experience
• Experience as sales manager in B-to-B services business
• Supreme sales, communications and contractual skills
• High level of existing relations with CHINA and foreign companies and CHINA
authorities
• University background
• Business and Technical skills and experience (experience in at least one of the below sectors:
o General Manufacturing and Engineering of industrial products
o Process industry
o Power industry
• In-depth knowledge of marketing, strategic market planning and communication
• In-depth understanding and experience of Capex intensive projects.
• Understanding and experience with foreign (industrial) standards
• Fluent in English and Mandarin (speech and reading/writing)
• Experience with and knowledge of common office software

• At least 10 years of experience in related industry
• At least 3 years of experience in a commercial position with proven track record
• At least 2 years of experience in a foreign owned or foreign JV company

• A good understanding of the Asset Management businesses and markets
• Highly capable of working independent and without direct supervision and instructions
• Good communication capabilities, being able to express well, both in speech and in writing
• Ability to overview and see the 'big picture', understanding of business concepts
